One of the burdens of leadership is being watched and scrutinized by others who may know little about you. Your words or behaviors are sometimes misrepresented or exaggerated and taken by others to be true.
What do you do to deal with this leadership challenge?
One of the best leadership lessons I have learned is to ignore the critics. They will always be there, when you do excellent work and when you miss your mark. If you respond to a critic in any way, this engages a conversation that takes your energy and focus away from what you are working to accomplish.
You can be a greater leader by rising above the critics and complainers. Maintain your focus on your vision and goals. Keep yourself accountable by building in the systems and support that will keep you on track and growing.
TO YOUR BEST,
